The Comox
Glacier at 2143m (2430 feet) dominates the valley
from almost every angle and it is an icon of the
Comox Valley.
The
shortest and most accessible route to the glacier
is by foot along the Comox Glacier Trail and it
takes about 3 days (in and out). This trail leads partly
through privately owned land and is not always open -
inquire if you want to spend 3 days in the wild!
The ice
was formed over eons as huge snowfalls from countless
winter storms blowing in from the ocean accumulated
and compressed into glacial ice. |
